Monumental work by leading urban historians represents substantial revision of Impacto de la urbanización en los centros históricos latinoamericanos originally published in 1983 by Hardoy and Dos Santos in collaboration with Gutiérrez and Rofman. Text concentrates on three major topics: 1) an adjustment of theoretical and practical approaches to the rehabilitation of historic centers with an emphasis on policy, 2) the identification of the main threats that historic centers, towns, and cities will face in the future, and 3) the presentation of selected initiatives carried out during the last decade.
