Jordi Virallonga (Barcelona, 1955) is professor of Spanish literature at the University of Barcelona. He is also founder and president of the Aula de Poesía de Barcelona. He has published the following volumes of poetry: Saberte (Barcelona, 1981), Perímetro de un día (Barcelona, 1986), El perfil de los pacíficos (Madrid, 1992), Crónicas de usura – Irun City Award, 1996 – (San Sebastián, 1996 and Barcelona, 1999), Los poemas de Turín (Barcelona, 2004) and the anthology Llevarte el día a casa (Málaga, 2000). Some of his books have been translated into Italian, Portuguese and Turkish. He has published an essay on the poetry of José Agustín Goytisolo (Madrid, 1992). He has translated books from Portuguese, Italian, French, Galician and Catalan. He has recently published the bilingual (Spanish-Catalan) anthology Sol de Sal of 20 poets who belong to the last quarter of the twentieth century, in the editorial DVD, Barcelona, 2001.
